Mark has worked as a VTA bus driver in San José for the past nine years. He is a member of SEIU 521 and has served on the executive board for the past year.
What once was a seemingly safe job has become terrifying — two of Mark’s co-workers in San José lost their lives to COVID-19. Through the union, Mark and his coworkers have organized and fought for rear boarding of the busses, proper PPE, paid sick days, and other basics to protect their lives during the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis.
As part of the Council, Mark hopes to continue to advocate for bus workers like himself who spend long shifts in confined spaces providing critical public transportation.
Mark has lived in the South Bay his entire life, growing up in Campbell and now living in San José with his girlfriend.
